Twenty three year old Kurtis and eighteen year old brother, Kody, were born and raised in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The brothers have been performing locally together for years garnering a strong regional following and have opened for such influential acts as Emmylou Harris, Dicky Betts and strong up-and-comers The Pat McGee Band and Sister Hazel.
As kids in rural Kentucky, their influences
early on were strong and varied from rural blues to acoustic jazz and bluegrass. As their song writing progressed they have developed an "earthy" pop sound that is unique and refreshing coming from such down home and down to earth young musicians. |

Growing up in a close, creative, bohemian household that has allowed them to express themselves openly through music, art and acting is probably the greatest influence on their performance today. Kurtis & Kody's music is a reflection of who they are based on how music, literature, family, art and history touch their lives. This is apparent in songs addressing a behind the scenes look at presidential elections (JFK) and in songs with lyrics that have a play on words taking natures simplicities and comparing them to life's most complex, important relationships.
Kurtis, who writes their material and plays the guitar interprets his songs in an exceptional, soulful way. Kody's percussive drumming and his natural harmonies blend to make this duo a sure fire enjoyment no matter what style they choose to put their voices to.
